Surprisingly the past few days have actually been rather satisfying.
First there was Singapore Idol, of which I went for the results, and yes, HADY MIRZA WON! :D YAY, YOU'RE MY SINGAPORE IDOL AND I LOVE YOU, I HONESTLY DO! :D Again, shouted my lungs out :) SO fun, so fun. AHH, it's all worth it! But should have stayed on with Cheong, because she got to grab hady's hand (!!!) Oh, oh, oh, and the second best part is, THE HOT AND OH-SO-SEXY TAUFIK PERFORMED! I miss him! You're my Singapore Idol too!! :) HYPE-UP CONCERT :D
"everything is about RESULTS, RESULTS RESULTS nowadays. have u tried giving tuition to girls? i have, and i tell u i HATE to teach girls maths. why? cuz they miss the whole point of maths!!! maths is not about getting answers and and scoring 1000000 marks. nope its the fun of figuring out the answer and trying to solve the problem. i even had a lecturer going to the extend of saying "math is sexy". BUT THEN EDUCATION SPOILS IT. its so result orientated tat people just dun care about how u get the answers anymore.....its about the answer itself. dun believe me? just look back at ur PAST education. how much of it do u actually remember?" - Norman Then, Singapore Idol 2 finalist, 2006
(Oh and btw, Norman is so funny. Okay, at least his blog is. If you're looking for something hilarious, you're sick of the crazy rat race, and you're tired of mrbrown, go to his blog: http://thegreatblogster.blogspot.com/ it'll lighten up you're mood like Singapore Idol does. Oh wait, he IS part of Singapore Idol, so I thus conclude, Singapore Idol DOES lighten up your mood. And I would have to thank val for tagging cheong's blog or I wouldn't have gone and read it. And I think his voice is actually quite nice, I guess his nerves just stops it from coming across during the show itself. Just listen to the background song, and I think he has quite a good taste in music.)
Okay, that was my introduction to my next point of the entry - Prelim results. Which I have to say, I'm satisfied with, considering the amount of effort I actually put into studying for it. Eh, okay, take for example chem. I slept at 10 the night before, right after I came back from tuition which was pretty useless because he only went through the contact and haber process, and rushed through summaries of the other chapters on my way to school. I thought the paper was @&^#*$ killer miller, albeit being easier than the mids, but surprise, surprise, I got b3. Mrs selvam has to be a super super lenient marker. And my practical and mcq was a saver. So whatever, I didn't get a distinction as my mother would have so obviously wanted me to (yes, she made it quite plain and blatant), but yes, I'm happy. :) And then A maths, which I think I don't deserve an a1. Because firstly, I left out a lot of questions for Section B of Paper II, and so, how can I possibly get a 35 for that? It's like higher than my Section B of Paper I, which I was actually quite confident of. I think they must have marked/counted wrongly, which leaves me quite worried. And then Chinese, I thought I wouldn't even get C5 lah. Me, whose brain has an ultimate aversion for the language, but I did. Who cares about Chinese anyway, not gonna use it. And then geog, whoa, first time I passed my human geog. I mean, this should go down in history. Mandy actually passed human geog, is that even HUMANELY possible? I seriously doubt it. AND THANK GOD FOR MODERATION FOR ENGLISH. I LOVE YOU MRS ALEX. I shall strive to live up to the a2. But I have to comment that I just realised ermm mrs stephen's teaching style is not very good. So she pushes us to learn all the cheem-ded vocabulary and all, but she never teaches us how to use it properly. Which resulted in the improper use of some of the vocab in my essay. And it's so funny because it's the first time the teacher commented that my compo was too long. I remember striving to throw millions of examples into my essay though. Haha. And I think mag low's quite a lenient marker (yes, please read this mrs low) because she gave me a relatively high mark even though I almost literally copied and pasted all the points with no effort whatsoever to change them to my own words. And my solutions were rushed too. But kill compre, compre should die. And so should oral. Gah. Oh and lit, apparently everyone who did unseen poem failed. The lowest being 3. Yours truly most likely, thank you very much. And I was hoping my unseen would pull up my pathetic passage-based which only compromised 3 pages. Wow, I'm so sitting outside of class. Btw, did I tell you it sucks to have 2 elder siblings who are so wonderfully gifted in the subject? And oh, not only for lit and english because my brother is also gifted in maths, science, geog, chinese (somewhat). Wait, hold on, isn't that everything? Yes, so everyone's gonna compare everything all over again. And technically, yes TECHNICALLY I should do better because my brother was in gep and ri, so his prelims should be &*^#! hard right? Surprise, surprise, I didn't. But it doesn't matter to me anyway, because $@*&(, I'm freak-ing happy with my results :D Yes, everything IS results-oriented, yet what can we do but stick to the status quo? (and now, I'm not sure I used it correctly. See what I mean?)
SO thank God, really, really, thank HIM, because fervent and ardous praying really does miracles. I remember praying to find the strive and determination to study for prelims, I guess I didn't get that, but he made up for it by giving me the fortune to do so well. Which in turn, I guess, gives me the strive and determination to study even harder for Os. Yay, Thank you LORD! :D And for all those who didn't receive the luck I had, I just have to say, work harder and it'll all pay off in the end. Because if I, who keeps watching re-runs of Lost and is so undeserving of this luck, can do it, YOU CAN TOO! :D I swear, this is not idealistic wishing, so CHEER UP MAN, the world should be filled with happy happy people with a purpose-driven life(HAHA), or not, whatever. Hahaha, I'm not thinking properly already because I've just been cheated. Of my feelings. Axn has lied to me. I thought there was ar at 1. but apparently not! This is what we should do now! Watch reality tv and enjoy the hell out of ourselves before all mugging hell breaks loose. Ermm actually, according to my conversation with jane and eunice, it breaks in 2 days. wait 1, since it's wednesday now.
So, as I promised (I hope I stick to it!), this is an extra long post to end my blogging days till 16 November 2006 a.k.a. 2 days before my birthday (HINT) a.k.a. the end of the horrendous O LEVELS :D
CHEERIOS, don't miss this blog too much!
